Phases:

Each player's turn is made of 3 phases; the Start Phase, the Main Phase, and the End Phase. A player goes through the 3 phases in order, then it becomes the other player's turn. Turns go back and forth until a player's deck runs out.

Start Phase:

The steps in the Start Phase happen automatically whenever a player starts a turn. They aren't optional.
  • Wake Up:
You may untap any of your characters. Usually, you'd want to untap them all.

  • Warm Up:
Draw 2 cards from your deck.

Main Phase:

The main phase is where you do most of your actions. You can do any of these actions in any order.
  • Summon a Character:
You can play characters from your hand to one of your Fields, by paying their cost.
Each Field can only hold 1 character.
Check the character for Field Limitations.
You can't play a character if there's already a character with that name in play.
    They come into play untapped.
They can't Attack or pay tap costs this turn, but they can still Defend or Support.

  • Use a Character's Basic Ability:
Characters may have Basic Abilities, printed in green.
You can use Basic Abilities with costs, on characters you control, by paying for them.
You can use each of your Character's Basic Abilities once per turn.
Basic Abilities without costs are always active; you can't choose to turn them off.
Basic Abilities can be used in your opponent's Main Phase too.
Check the Glossary for a list of Basic Abilities!

  • Use a Character's Special Ability:
Characters all have Special Abilities, which come with unique names.
You can use Special Abilities with costs, on characters you control, by paying for them.
You can use Special Abilities as often as you like, as long as you can afford them.
Special Abilities without costs are always active; you can't choose to turn them off.
Special Abilities can be used in your opponent's Main Phase too.

  • Play an Event Card:
You can play Event cards from your hand, by paying the cost.
After the Event's effects happen, the card goes to your Dustbox.
Events can be used in your opponent's Main Phase too.

  • Play an Item Card:
You can equip a Character in play with an Item card from your hand, by paying the cost.
Each character can only equip one Item at any one time.
You can also equip Items onto your opponent's characters.

  • Play an Area Card:
You can attach an Area card from your hand to a Field, by paying the cost.
Each Field can only have one Area card.
You can also play Areas on your opponent's Fields.

  • Attack your Opponent:
Characters in your AF row can be used to attack. The Battle section goes into more detail.

End Phase:

When there's nothing else you can do (or want to do) in the main phase, you end your turn.

If you have more than 7 cards in your hand at this point, discard cards of your choice until there are 7.

If your characters received special bonuses to their AP, DP, or SP, those effects disappear, unless an item or special effect in play is still providing that bonus.
